Questions parents ask about beaches

Which beaches in Dubai are free?

All of Dubai’s public beaches are free: Kite Beach, Sunset Beach, Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3 Beaches, JBR Beach, Al Mamzar Beach, Black Palace Beach and Dubai Islands Beach. You pay only for parking in some areas, sunbed hire and food. Hotel and beach-club beaches charge day passes and are listed separately.

Which Dubai beaches have lifeguards?

Dubai Municipality lifeguards patrol the main public beaches (Kite Beach, JBR Beach, the Jumeirah beaches, Al Mamzar and Sunset Beach) during the day, and the three night-swimming beaches after dark. Black Palace Beach and the quieter stretches have no lifeguards. Swim between the flags, and keep out of the water when the red flag is up.

Where can kids swim at night in Dubai?

Jumeirah 2 Beach, Jumeirah 3 Beach and Umm Suqeim 1 Beach (Kite Beach) are Dubai Municipality night-swimming beaches: an 800-metre stretch of each is floodlit from sunset to sunrise and patrolled by lifeguards, and swimming at night is allowed only in those marked zones. From May to October the evening is the only comfortable time for small children to be in the sea.

Which Dubai beach is best for toddlers?

The Jumeirah beaches and Al Mamzar have the calmest, shallowest water, and Al Mamzar Beach Park adds a lagoon, shade and a swimming pool. JBR Beach and Kite Beach have playgrounds on the sand and cafés nearby, which matters more with a toddler than the swimming. Most beaches have showers and toilets near the lifeguard towers.

Are dogs allowed on Dubai beaches?

Not on the public swimming beaches, where Dubai Municipality signs ban dogs from the sand. Dogs have their own beach park at Dubai Islands Beach, open sunrise to sunset, and are allowed on a leash at The Pointe and Palm West Beach on Palm Jumeirah; the old Jebel Ali dog beach is no longer a reliable option.
