The activity

Martial Arts, explained

Kalaripayattu (often shortened to Kalari) is India's classical martial art. Students learn flowing movement sequences called Meipayattu, then breath-led transitions and, eventually, weapon forms, so body and breath are trained together. YogKalariSamriddhi says Kalari builds physical control and coordination, breath training and focus, strength and stamina, mental clarity and discipline, and body awareness that helps prevent injury. For children and teenagers, the school says it sharpens focus, builds respect and grows quiet confidence beyond academics. It does not publish a starting age, so ask the provider how young a child can join and what a beginner's first months look like.

Who it's for

Children and teenagers, adults, and beginners, as the Kalari page says. Private training is offered for adults and kids. The yoga therapy side is aimed at adults, mainly women, and is not a children's programme. Age bands and levels are not published, so ask the provider.

What to expect

Group Kalari classes run in batches at select locations in Dubai. The site asks you to get in touch for the current batches, and private training for adults and kids is by appointment. Training moves from flowing sequences (Meipayattu) to breath-led transitions and, later, weapon forms. The site does not publish a trial class, a kit list, prices or session times, so ask the provider on WhatsApp (+971 56 344 0979) or by email ([email protected]). The site says contact-form messages get a reply within 24 hours.
