About Level Up Gyms
LVL UP Gyms is a 50,000 sq ft sports centre in Dubai Production City (IMPZ) where gymnastics sits alongside martial arts, padel, CrossFit and yoga. For children, the core is gymnastics: Artistic Gymnastics for ages 4-16, split into beginner (45-minute classes), intermediate and advanced groups; Rhythmic Gymnastics for girls from age 3, working with rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon; and Mommy & Me, a 45-minute parent-and-toddler class for ages 1.5-3. The centre also says it teaches Trampoline and Parkour. Gymnasts can take part in internal and external competitions, and progress is tracked through skill evaluations and term reports. Martial arts on offer include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Judo and Taekwondo, with separate kids' classes, and a chess class has recently launched. Gymnastics classes run Monday to Friday 3:30PM-5:30PM and at weekends 10AM-2PM. A free one-hour trial class is available, booked over WhatsApp.
The activity
Gymnastics, explained
Gymnastics builds strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. In artistic gymnastics children learn rolls, handstands, bridges and cartwheels on the floor, then move on to vault, beam and bars. Rhythmic gymnastics is performed entirely on the floor to music, with a rope, hoop, ball, clubs or ribbon, and rewards flexibility and musicality. Classes are grouped by level, so children move from beginner to intermediate and advanced as their skills grow, and some go on to compete. Toddlers can start earlier in parent-and-child sessions built around simple movement and play, before joining independent classes from around age 3 or 4.
Who it's for
Children from toddlers to teens. Mommy & Me is for ages 1.5-3 with a parent taking part; Artistic Gymnastics is for ages 4-16 at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, with no prior experience needed to start; Rhythmic Gymnastics is aimed at girls aged 3+ and teens. The centre describes its children's programmes as covering ages 3-16, and there are adult gymnastics classes for over-19s.
What to expect
Start with a free one-hour trial class, booked by WhatsApp on +971 54 233 6417. Beginner artistic classes last 45 minutes and cover rolls, handstands, bridges and cartwheels on the floor, working on strength, flexibility and coordination before children move up a level. Intermediate classes run for two hours and advanced for three. Rhythmic beginners work on splits, bridges and cartwheels before moving on to the apparatus. For rhythmic, children wear a leotard, leggings or fitted activewear, with long hair tied back and a water bottle. In Mommy & Me, parent and child both wear comfortable activewear and bring water. Enrolment is by WhatsApp or at the front desk.
