About Antara Entertainments

Antara is an Indian classical dance and music academy in Dubai, launched in December 2014 by Mr and Mrs Eswar, with dance students training under Guru Vimmi B Eswar. It teaches Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dance, Carnatic vocal, veena, violin, guitar and keyboard, and its Instagram also lists Mohiniyattam. This listing is its Antara Entertainments branch at Ibn Battuta Gates, near Ibn Battuta Metro; the academy's other branch is in Al Karama, and some course pages name Karama, so ask which classes run here. Courses run in levels, and the youngest start at 5 in the introductory dance, Carnatic vocal, guitar and keyboard groups. The academy says sessions pay close attention to posture and form, involve choreography, and that students get timely feedback on their progress. Students from both branches performed Bharatanatyam at Bhawa's Natyanjali in Jumeirah Park in September 2026. Suited to families who want a structured, level-by-level start in Indian classical arts.

The activity

Dance, explained

Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi are classical Indian dance forms. Children learn precise footwork, hand gestures (mudras), facial expression and storytelling through movement, which builds discipline, rhythm, posture and confidence on stage. Carnatic vocal music is the classical singing tradition of South India, taught through scales, rhythm and songs, and often learned alongside instruments such as the veena. Both are usually learned step by step over several years, moving up through levels, with students working towards stage performances. Many academies take complete beginners, with introductory dance and singing levels commonly starting around age five.

Who it's for

Children from 5. The website's course tables start Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi with a Level 1 introductory group from 5, then Intermediate A and B from 7+, Level 2 from 8+, Level 3 from 10+, Level 4 from 12+ and Level 5 from 14+. Carnatic vocal starts at 5, veena at 10, and guitar and keyboard Level 1 at 5+. One-to-one lessons are also listed. Ask which levels run at the Ibn Battuta branch.

What to expect

Start with a trial: a 2026 post from the academy invites children to a trial class at their nearest branch, so call 055 260 8634 to arrange one and ask whether the trial is free. Beginners join an introductory group and move up level by level. The academy says sessions are interactive and pay close attention to posture and form, classes involve choreography, and students are assessed and given feedback as they progress. Students also take to the stage, as at Bhawa's Natyanjali in September 2026. Class times, group sizes and what to wear are not published, so ask the provider, and check which classes run at Ibn Battuta.
