About Sharmila Dance Center
Sharmila Dance Center is a dance school with three studios at Al Attar Business Centre in Al Barsha, where it has had its own space since 2018 after starting classes at Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre in 2006. The timetable runs Sunday to Friday. For children it starts with Mini Movers for 4-6 year olds. From there it moves on to Commercial Dance by age group (Level 1 for 7-12, Level 2 for 13-15, Level 3 for 16+) and Acro from Level 1 (7-12) upwards. Classical Ballet starts at Pre Elementary (8 yrs+) and Elementary (10 yrs+), with General/Intermediate and pointe classes above that. There are also tap, lyrical, hip hop and Afro Pop classes, while Zumba, heels and some commercial and hip hop classes are for adults. A few groups (Mini Invitation A and B, Senior Invitation) are invite-only. Google marks the venue as good for kids and lists a wheelchair-accessible car park.

Dance classes give children a structured way to build coordination, rhythm, flexibility and confidence in front of others. A typical class mixes warm-ups and technique drills with short routines set to music, and children progress through levels as their skills grow. Younger children usually start with a playful movement class that focuses on listening, balance and following the music, then move into specific styles such as classical ballet, commercial dance, acrobatics or tap once they can concentrate on technique. Many dance schools also put on shows, which gives children a performance to work towards and a reason to practise between lessons.

Tap, hip hop and lyrical run at beginner through intermediate/advanced levels. Adults have their own classes. Some groups are invite-only.
What to expect
Classes run in fixed weekly slots by style and level rather than as drop-in sessions. For example, Mini Movers (4-6 yrs) is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm, Commercial LV1 (7-12 yrs) is on Tuesdays 4-5pm and Sundays 3:30-4:30pm, and Classical Ballet Elementary (10 yrs+) is on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm.
