Powerhouse Studioz is a dance studio at Damac Executive Heights in Barsha Heights, started in 2022 by instructors Suuraj Meena and Diipti Nikhhiil. It teaches Bollywood, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Salsa, Contemporary, Indian Classical, Ballet, Belly Dance and Indian Folk Dance, alongside adult classes, dance fitness and yoga. The studio says its classes run from its littlest 4-year-olds up to adults. Its Kids Dance Classes are part of the studio's regular curriculum, described as workshops that promote health and fitness through dance, designed so children can join in and enjoy themselves whatever their dance experience; the studio says the programme can also reach children at their school premises. It has run holiday camps for children that mix dance with other activities. Classes are 60 minutes, and the membership page lists passes for children and adults, from a AED 60 drop-in class to a year's membership, valid for selected classes. The timetable isn't online, so message the studio for kids' class times and which class suits your child's age.

The activity

Dance, explained

Dance classes teach children to move to music with control and confidence: they learn steps, rhythm, coordination and how to put moves together into a routine. Styles vary a lot - Bollywood and Indian folk use storytelling and expressive hand movements, hip hop is high-energy street style, and ballet builds posture, balance and technique. Many children start with a fun, mixed class and pick a favourite style later. Powerhouse Studioz describes its kids programme as workshops that promote health and fitness through dance, designed so children can join in and enjoy themselves whatever their dance experience.

Who it's for

Children from age 4 (the studio's membership page says its classes run from its littlest 4-year-olds up to adults), of any dance experience: the kids' workshops are designed so children can get involved and enjoy themselves regardless of their dance experience. Ask the studio which class suits your child's age.

What to expect

Each class at the studio is 60 minutes. The kids' sessions are described as dance workshops aimed at health, fitness and enjoyment rather than prior experience. Members can take part in the competitions and stage performances the studio organises. The website doesn't give a kit list or a free-trial policy; a single drop-in class is listed at AED 60 on the membership page (as listed on the website - confirm the current price). The timetable page doesn't list times online, so message the studio on WhatsApp or call for the current kids' schedule and to check whether your child's class is at the studio or at school.
