About Legends Academy Dubai

Legends Academy Dubai is a cricket academy for children and teenagers, based at The Sevens Stadium on Al Ain Road (E66). Weekly group coaching is split by age: 4-9, 10-13 and 14-18, plus a U11-U18 Girls Development Programme on Monday evenings. The 4-9 sessions are hardball focused, built around small-sided games and the basic skills of the game; the 10-13 group works on T20 skills and adds basic strength and conditioning; the 14-18 group caters for every standard while helping the strongest players towards UAE age-group or home-country representative cricket. Alongside the groups there is an invitation-only Emerging Player Programme, 1-1 coaching with named coaches from AED 325 an hour, and an annual membership of two sessions a week for AED 8,000. The academy says it coaches over 150 children a week. It is rated 4.5 on Google from 11 reviews. Group term fees are shown when you book online, or message the academy on WhatsApp.

The activity

Cricket, explained

Cricket coaching for children teaches batting, bowling, fielding and wicket-keeping, starting with throwing, catching and striking in small-sided games before moving on to proper matches. It builds hand-eye coordination, concentration and teamwork, and older juniors learn game tactics, often in the short T20 format. Some academies start young players with a soft or tennis ball and move to the hard ball as skills grow; this academy describes its sessions for 4-9s as hardball focused. Kids need their own bat, pads, helmet and gloves once they play with a hard ball. Many children start at around four to six, and keen players can move on to club, school and representative cricket.

Who it's for

Children aged 4-18 in three age groups (4-9, 10-13, 14-18); a U11-U18 Girls Development Programme for girls; an invitation-only Emerging Player Programme for players already in the academy's pathway; and the Elite October Half Term Camp for 15 to 18-year-olds.

What to expect

Sessions for 4-9s use small-sided games to teach the basic cricket skills in hardball-focused sessions, with enjoyment at the heart of each session, the academy says. Older groups move on to T20 skills, game situations and some strength and conditioning. Players bring their own cricket equipment and protective gear, plus water and sun protection, and sessions are run in English. Groups meet for 90 minutes. Terms are booked online: pick the term, venue and session. The website does not offer a trial session, so ask the provider if your child can try one first. Cancellations more than 14 days before the start get a refund less an AED 50 admin fee.
