The activity

Cricket, explained

Cricket coaching teaches children to bat, bowl and field, starting with grip, stance and simple throwing and catching before moving on to proper bowling actions, running between the wickets and playing in match situations. Sessions usually mix skill drills in the nets with small-sided games, so kids learn to wait their turn, back up team-mates and make quick decisions. It builds hand-eye coordination, balance, concentration and patience, and it suits children who enjoy team sport but also like working on a skill of their own. At this academy the Juniors group is aimed at players typically aged 7 to 18, and a Beginners group introduces the fundamentals to new players.

Who it's for

Children and teens: the Juniors programme is for young players typically aged 7 to 18, and the Beginners group introduces new players of any level to the fundamentals. Adults aged 18 and above train in the Senior group. The website doesn't say whether groups are mixed or split by gender, or what support is available for children with additional needs - ask the academy.

What to expect

According to the academy, Beginners coaching introduces new players to the fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment, working on essential skills, understanding of the game and confidence, while Juniors coaching focuses on foundational skills and teamwork in an engaging format. Facilities listed on the website include an astro pitch with a bowling machine and Track AI, a turf pitch and a cricket ground. What a first session looks like, whether there's a trial, what kit to bring and when each group trains aren't published - ask the provider on call or WhatsApp at +971 54 247 5373, or email [email protected].
