About Champs Sports Club

Champs Sports Club is a sports and fitness club founded by basketball player Fadi El Khatib, known as "The Tiger". For children, the Champs academy offers basketball from the Lil Tigers group for the youngest players up to under-18s, plus youth padel and holiday multi-activity camps. The academy runs at the Al Quoz club (9 15 St, Al Quoz Industrial Area 3) and at Festival Plaza in Jebel Ali Village. In the 2025-26 season, Al Quoz ran academy basketball on every day of the week and youth padel on four days, and Festival Plaza ran its own basketball groups and karate from age 3; confirm the 2026-27 timetable with the academy. Players are grouped by birth year and by level (Grey, Red, Advanced and Elite). Training sessions are closed: only players and their parents or guardians may watch, and coaching is in English. The handbook lists a 2025 SPIA award (second runner-up, best youth programme) and 2024-25 DOBA titles for its U12 D1 boys and U14 girls.

The activity

Multi-Sports, explained

A multi-sport club lets children try more than one sport under one roof, often while they settle on a favourite. At Champs the main children's sport is basketball, with padel and holiday camps alongside. In basketball, children learn to dribble with both hands, pass, shoot and defend, then how to move as a team: spacing, set plays and reading the game. It builds coordination, fitness, quick decisions and the habit of winning and losing well. Many clubs start children at four or five with short, playful sessions using smaller balls and lower hoops, then add weekly matches and league games as players grow.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from about age 3 to 18. In the 2025-26 handbook, basketball ran by birth year from Lil Tigers (born 2021-2022) through U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 to U18 (born 2007-2008), with separate girls' Elite and Advanced groups at Al Quoz; fees were split into ages 3-4 and ages 4.5-18. Levels are Grey, Red, Advanced and Elite, and the handbook lists tryouts before the season. The padel academy page gives youth programmes for ages 4 to 18 (2025-26 handbook fees quoted 4-16; Al Quoz groups ran U8 to U14). In 2025-26, karate at Festival Plaza had groups for 3-4 year olds, kids aged 5-6 and juniors aged 9-15; confirm it runs this season. Support for children with additional needs: ask the provider.

What to expect

The basketball academy page invites parents to message the academy on WhatsApp to start a free trial. Under the 2025-26 handbook terms, every enrolled player needed the Champs uniform and their own ball sized for their age, missed sessions could be made up only with a medical certificate, and refunds were limited to serious medical reasons or moving abroad. Training sessions are closed: only players and their parents or guardians may watch, with coaching in English. In the 2025-26 season, most Al Quoz basketball groups trained for 75 minutes, the Lil Tigers group for 45 minutes on weekend mornings, and youth padel groups for an hour. Current times, the trial and the right group: ask the provider.
