The activity

Football, explained

Football coaching for kids builds ball control, passing, movement and teamwork through drills and small-sided games, usually grouped by age. Academies typically run tiered groups so beginners work on fundamentals while more experienced players get tactical coaching and competitive matches. It's a good fit for kids who like team sport and structure, and most academies run sessions after school or on weekends, with seasonal breaks over summer. Many programmes start from around age 4-5 with fun, game-based sessions before moving into more structured training and match play as children grow older, building fitness, confidence and social skills along the way.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from U6 to U18, including a CFFA Girls Team. Beginners are welcome in the Regular Programme; the Development and Elite Programmes are for players with more experience and match play.

What to expect

Book a free trial online, choosing your ground, and an academy coordinator calls or WhatsApps within 24 hours to confirm the session. Your child joins a full 60-minute training session with their age group, meets the coaches, and is then assessed and placed in the Elite, Development or Regular group. The first trial is free with no obligation to register, and parents can watch from pitchside seating. For regular training, players wear the official CFFA kit and bring football boots, shin guards and a water bottle. Plans run monthly or quarterly, and session times shift slightly in peak summer and winter. Pick a ground on this page to see its address.
