The activity

Football, explained

Football is a team game in which two teams try to get the ball into the other side's goal using any part of the body except the hands and arms. Children's coaching usually starts with ball mastery, meaning dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting. Those skills then go into small-sided games, where every child gets plenty of touches. As players grow, sessions add positions, teamwork and simple tactics, and many academies enter friendly matches or leagues. Football builds speed, balance, stamina and coordination, and it teaches children to communicate and to cope with winning and losing. Children often start in the early primary years, usually grouped by age.

Who it's for

Not published. The academy's flyer shows a coach training children on an outdoor pitch, but it gives no age groups or levels. Ask the provider which ages it coaches, whether beginners are welcome and whether groups are split by age or level.
