About Bermuda Diving Center
Bermuda Diving Center is a PADI dive centre in a villa on Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah 3. It opened at the beginning of 2017 and runs everything from beach try dives to instructor training, with two programmes built for children aged 8 to 10. Bubblemaker is a single pool session of about three to four hours: a briefing on the kit and hand signals, then time underwater in a pool up to 2 to 3 metres deep, and a certificate at the end. No swimming skills are needed. PADI Seal Team is a two-day course with PADI eLearning and five pool "AquaMissions" covering breathing underwater, buoyancy and communication; children need basic swimming for this one. Scuba gear, towels and slippers are provided, so kids only bring swimwear. From 10, children can take the PADI Open Water course, and the beach try dive is listed for children above 10. The centre says it has more than 10 in-house instructors and describes itself as a supporter of PADI AWARE's ocean conservation work.
The activity
Scuba Diving, explained
Scuba diving for children starts in a swimming pool, not the sea. Kids wear a mask, fins, tank and regulator, and an instructor stays right beside them in shallow water. They learn to breathe through the regulator, clear water from their mask, use simple hand signals and float steadily without touching the bottom. For a first go, many families pick a one-off taster session; a short pool course can follow if the child loves it. It builds calm breathing, body awareness and confidence in the water. Most PADI programmes for children start at age 8, and full open water courses usually start around 10.
Who it's for
Children aged 8 to 10 for Bubblemaker (no swimming skills needed) and PADI Seal Team (basic swimming needed: kids should be comfortable in the water and able to do a short swim unaided). From 10, the PADI Open Water course (swimmer, medically fit for diving); the beach try dive is listed for children above 10. Under-8s: no programme is listed. Instruction is in English; the centre also lists Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, Urdu and Malayalam, which for Seal Team need the 1-on-1 add-on at checkout.
What to expect
A Bubblemaker session starts with a short briefing on the scuba equipment, how it works, basic safety and the hand signals divers use. Then your child goes into a shallow pool in full scuba gear with an instructor close by, practising breathing underwater, buoyancy and moving with fins. The whole programme takes about three to four hours, and it ends with a certificate plus underwater photos and videos. Gear, towels and slippers are included; bring swimwear. Soft contact lenses are fine, and prescription masks are available free on request. Ask the provider which pool is used and which days have space.
