About DiveCampus Diving Club
DiveCampus is a scuba centre in Al Quoz 1 that describes itself as a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center, a TecRec facility and Dubai's first PADI Eco Center. Much of its training happens in an indoor DiveTank up to 4 metres deep at the Al Quoz branch, and its shore dives use a Jumeirah Beach site. For children, the site groups three pool programmes under "Kids Experience (8 & 9 yrs)": PADI Bubblemaker, where the maximum depth is two metres, plus PADI Seal Team and Master Seal Team for ages 8 and older. The tank has Plexiglas windows, so parents can watch and film. From age 10, children can join Discover Scuba try dives and beginner certification courses. For younger or less confident children, DiveCampus runs one-to-one swimming and snorkelling sessions from age 3. It also offers a separate "below 8 yrs" kids session with snorkelling and underwater games. Beyond kids' programmes, it runs adult courses up to instructor level, trips from its Khorfakkan branch and a dive-gear shop. It is on Google as women-owned.
The activity
Scuba Diving, explained
Scuba diving for children starts in a pool, not the sea. Wearing a small tank, a regulator to breathe from and a mask, kids take their first breaths underwater in shallow, calm water with an instructor right beside them. Early sessions are about feeling relaxed: breathing slowly, clearing a little water from the mask, staying level and staying close to a buddy. Many pool programmes turn skills into short missions, such as spotting fish or finding their way, so it feels like play. It builds water confidence, calm breathing, focus and respect for the ocean. PADI's pool programmes for children start at 8, and junior certification courses from 10. Children should already be comfortable in water.
Who it's for
Children aged 3 and up for one-to-one swimming and snorkelling. Under-8s for a kids' snorkelling and underwater-games session with a private instructor. Children aged 8 and 9 for the "Kids Experience" pool programmes (Bubblemaker, Seal Team, Master Seal Team). Ages 8 and up for Try Freediving, and 10 and up for Discover Scuba and beginner certification courses. Seal Team needs no scuba experience, but children should be comfortable in the water, and parents must give approval. Water-phobia sessions (one-to-one, male or female instructor) are also offered; ask whether they suit your child's age.
What to expect
Bubblemaker takes place in the indoor DiveTank, to a maximum depth of two metres. A PADI instructor supervises directly, children use scuba gear made for kids, and parents watch through the tank windows. The Bubblemaker Crew-Pack includes a kid-sized beach towel, a logbook and a certificate. Seal Team is made up of five AquaMissions, such as fish identification, navigation and buoyancy. They can be done in one day or spread over a few days. Master Seal Team has 10 AquaMissions over 3-4 days, 2-3 hours a day. Swimming sessions last 45 minutes and are one-to-one. For try dives, DiveCampus offers a free phone consultation with an instructor and asks you to bring swimwear and a towel.
