Aspire Football Academy coaches children from Under 5s to Under 16s at Australian International School in Al Barsha South/Arjan. The activity

Football, explained

Football coaching for children mixes ball-control drills - passing, dribbling, first touch and shooting - with small-sided games, so every child gets plenty of touches and time on the ball. Groups are usually organised by birth year, so kids train alongside others of a similar age and size. Alongside technique, it builds fitness, coordination, teamwork and the confidence to try things in a match. Many children start with fun, game-based sessions at four or five, then move on to friendly fixtures, tournaments and league matches as their skills and love of the game grow.

Who it's for

Children born 2011 to 2022, grouped by birth year from Under 5s (born 2022) to Under 16s (born 2011). The academy says it offers players of all abilities a way to start, or continue, their football, with competitive squads for league football. Ask the provider about additional needs.

What to expect

Your child's first session is a free trial, booked through the registration form on the academy's website. Sessions last an hour: Under 5s to Under 10s train 5:30-6:30pm and Under 11s to Under 16s 6:30-7:30pm, on Mondays and Wednesdays at Australian International School. The academy's own Nike home kit (black jersey, shorts and socks) is sold through its kit portal. The site doesn't say what to bring to a trial, so ask the provider about boots, shin pads and water before you go.
