About Yalla Music Learning Center
Yalla Music Learning Center (it also calls itself Yalla Music School) teaches keyboard, piano, guitar, drums, violin and vocals from Suite 201, Ahli House C on Amman Street in Al Nahda 2. Lessons are one-to-one only, and the school says it has no age limit: it teaches children, working adults and retirees alike, with flexible timing. It is a registered exam centre for Trinity College London, including Trinity Rock & Pop exams, so a child can work towards graded certificates without going elsewhere. Students get chances to perform at the centre's own events and concerts, which helps with stage nerves. Fees are published as packages by grade, starting at AED 1,800 for 12 lessons over three months. There is also a music shop on site selling new and pre-owned instruments. A trial class can be booked through the website, and on Google the school holds 5.0 from 26 reviews.
The activity
Music Lessons, explained
Music lessons teach a child to read music, build technique on an instrument or their voice, and work through pieces that get steadily harder. In one-to-one lessons the teacher sets the pace for that one child, so a shy beginner and a confident player each get what they need. Regular practice builds concentration, finger coordination and patience, and graded exams give children a clear next step to aim for. Many children start formal lessons once they can sit and focus for a short lesson, often around the start of primary school. It suits a child who likes steady, visible progress and enjoys having something of their own to show off at home.
Who it's for
Beginners to advanced players of any age; the school states 'No Age Limit' and teaches children, adults and retirees. It does not publish a minimum starting age for children, so ask the provider whether your child is ready.
What to expect
Every lesson is one-to-one. On the piano programme, lessons last 30 minutes and beginners come once a week, four classes a month. Piano levels run from Beginners (Initial to Grade 2) through Intermediate (Grades 3-5) and Advanced (Grades 6-8). You can book a trial class through the website. Ask the provider what the trial costs, how long lessons last on other instruments and whether your child needs to bring their own instrument. The school also sells new and pre-owned instruments if you need one for practice at home.
