About Wild Paint House

Wild Paint House is a self-service art jamming studio in a warehouse on Al Marabea Street, Al Quoz 1, where you book a slot, put on a raincoat and shoe covers, and throw paint around. It calls itself a DIY zone rather than a school: there are no structured classes, but staff give a short briefing on tools and techniques before you start. There are six ways to paint: Splat (splatter on canvas, walls and each other), Spin on manual spin tables, Swing with pendulums on a gentle electric table, Pour (fluid art on canvases or figurines such as bears), Neon under UV light on selected evenings, and Graffiti on outdoor walls in the cooler months. The studio says it is for kids, families, dates and team events, and uses child-safe, non-toxic tempera paint for splatter work. For families, the key point is that it is a shared drop-in session with parents painting alongside, not a drop-off class: every painter needs their own package and children under 6 must be supervised.

The activity

Painting, explained

Art jamming is open, hands-on painting with no lesson and no right answer. Instead of copying a picture, children splatter, drip, pour and spin paint onto a canvas and watch what happens. Spin art uses a turning table to fling colour outwards into bursts; pendulum art lets a swinging cup of paint draw loops; fluid or pour art tips runny acrylic over a canvas or figurine so the colours marble together. It builds confidence, colour sense and the idea that making a mess can be making something. There is no skill to learn first, so it suits all ages, from little ones sharing a parent's canvas to grown-ups, and it is something the whole family can do side by side.

Who it's for

Families, kids with a parent, teens and adults; no art skills needed. The booking page says children under 6 must be supervised, and the FAQ says parents are responsible for supervising their own children. Children under 3 can share a parent's package for AED 35 (covers, tools and a small canvas); in a Party Pack, under-6s can share an adult's package for AED 35. The spin experience is described as for adults and kids above 1m tall. The studio's FAQ also mentions a AED 110 child package with a paying adult, so confirm the price for a child aged 3 to 5 with the studio before booking.

What to expect

Book a slot online (walk-ins are accepted only if there is space). Wear clothes you do not mind ruining; the studio provides raincoats, aprons and shoe covers, and paint washes off skin and hair. Staff give a quick briefing, you pick colours and tools, then paint for about an hour on an individual package (Date Time and Party Packs run 1.5 hours). Canvases stay on the drying racks for up to 48 hours and can be collected within 10 days, or delivered for AED 35 for up to five canvases. Splatter T-shirts, caps and tote bags go home the same day in a box. No outside food or drink in the studio unless you have booked a private rental.
