About Wake2Wake Dubai Marina
Wake2Wake is a boat-based wakesurf and wakeboard operator in Dubai Marina. You book the boat by the hour - AED 500 on weekdays and AED 600 on weekends and holidays - and the price covers the board, life jackets and basic coaching from the captain and instructors, so no previous experience is needed. The boat, a Mastercraft NXT 22, takes up to five people, but only one person rides at a time, so a family or a group of friends can take turns while the others watch from the deck. Riders need to be aged 7 to 60 and able to swim, because the whole session is spent in open water. You meet the crew at Dubai Marina 10 minutes before your slot and ride out to the sea off JBR. Booking is through an online calendar, by phone or on WhatsApp, and riders bring an original Emirates ID or passport on the day. Photography is available on request.
The activity
Surfing, explained
Wakesurfing and wakeboarding are boat-towed water sports. In wakeboarding the rider stands on a board and holds a tow rope behind the boat; in wakesurfing the rider gets up on the rope and then rides the wave the boat makes, much like surfing a small, endless swell. Both build balance, core strength, leg power and confidence in open water. Beginners usually start by learning to stand up from sitting in the water, with the captain and instructor coaching from the boat. Because riders spend the whole session in open water, being able to swim confidently matters, and Wake2Wake takes riders from age 7.
Who it's for
Riders aged 7 to 60 who can already swim - beginners are welcome, as the crew give basic coaching. Non-swimmers can't take part.
What to expect
After you book and pay, Wake2Wake emails the booking details. You meet the crew at Dubai Marina 10 minutes before your slot, then take a short boat ride out to the sea off JBR. The boat holds up to five people and only one rides at a time while the others watch. The captain and instructors give tips to help beginners get up on the board. Boards, a life jacket and (for wakesurfing) an optional helmet are provided; bring sunglasses and an original Emirates ID or passport. There is no published trial - ask the provider.
