Wake Me Dubai, Jumeirah 1 and Creek Harbour: family wakesurfing
About Wake Me Dubai
Wake Me Dubai (WakeMe) runs private wakesurfing boat sessions from two bases: Jumeirah 1, with a view of Burj Khalifa and a beach within walking distance, and Dubai Creek Harbour, which the club describes as a location with no outside waves and no jet skis. Children can be on the boat from age 3 in one of the club's children's life jackets, and training can start from age 7, though the provider says this depends on the child's physical development and that a coach can ride the board with a younger child. You book the boat by time, from 30 to 120 minutes (prices exclude 5% VAT), and bring up to 5 people with you on top of the crew. Wetsuits, life jackets and boards are included, along with water, towels and sun protection. A coach can be added for 30, 45 or 60 minutes and stays in the boat from start to finish. The boats are Nautique S23 towboats, a 2023 model at Jumeirah 1 and a 2025 model at Creek Harbour.
The activity
Surfing, explained
Wakesurfing means riding the wave that forms behind a slow-moving boat: the rider starts on a tow rope, then lets go once up and surfs the wake freely. Wakeboarding is similar but the rider stays holding the rope the whole time, a bit like water-skiing on one board. Both build balance, leg and core strength and confidence in open water, and first-timers usually learn with a coach in the boat giving instructions between runs. Riders wear a life jacket, and a wetsuit is common. It suits children who already enjoy the water and are ready for something more adventurous than a pool, with most starting once they are strong enough to hold the rope and stand up on the board.
Who it's for
Families and groups of up to 6 (you plus 5 guests, not counting the crew). Children can come on the boat from age 3 wearing one of the club's children's life jackets; wakesurfing training can start from age 7, depending on the child's physical development. The club says there are sometimes exceptions, and a coach can ride the board with a child who is too small to ride alone. First-timers are welcome: the club says almost everyone stands up on their first go. Trainers speak English and Russian.
What to expect
A coached session starts with a briefing on the boat, then the lesson happens straight away in the water, with the coach in the boat from start to finish. The club suggests 30 minutes per person as the right length for a first time, and says the 30 minutes is riding time. Bring a swimsuit, plus a towel if you plan to use the shower at the location afterwards; wetsuits, life jackets, boards, water and sun protection are provided. There is no free trial listed, but the site offers 10% off a first booking. Photographers or videographers can be arranged on request.
