The activity

Dance, explained

Bollywood dance mixes Indian classical and folk moves with hip hop and modern styles, set to songs from Hindi films. A children's class usually starts with a warm-up, then breaks a short routine into counts, adding footwork, hand gestures and facial expressions before running it with the music. It builds rhythm, coordination, stamina and memory, and performing for family at a show gives kids confidence. Many studios teach hip hop or freestyle alongside it, so children can try more than one style. No experience is needed to start, and each studio sets its own age groups, so check which class fits your child before you book.

Who it's for

Children: the Bur Dubai studio ran Summer Camp 2026 (6 July to 28 August) with daily dance training in Bollywood, hip hop and freestyle. The camp poster gives no age range, and TDS does not publish age groups or levels for its children's classes: ask the provider which classes suit your child's age.

What to expect

At Summer Camp 2026 the Bur Dubai studio ran two-and-a-half-hour days, 11am to 1:30pm, built around daily dance training in Bollywood, hip hop and freestyle. Around the dancing, the camp poster lists theatre and acting, a fashion show and ramp walk, talent show preparation, yoga and stretch, indoor sports and team games, public speaking, art and craft, science experiments, short film making, dance battles, a treasure hunt and leadership games. For regular children's classes, TDS does not publish what a first session involves, what to wear or whether there is a trial class, so ask the provider when you call.
