About TKMMAFIT
TKMMAFIT is a combat sports and fitness gym on the 9th floor of Shatha Tower in Dubai Media City, founded by Tam Khan. Most of its timetable is adult classes (MMA, boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and freestyle wrestling), with children's and teens' classes on weekday evenings and at weekends. The timetable on its website (May 2025) lists Kids Muay Thai, Kids Boxing, Teens Muay Thai, Teens MMA, Youth BJJ and Youth Freestyle Wrestling. Its Kids Jiu Jitsu page gives ages 4-12; the timetable's Youth BJJ class has no age band, so ask whether it is the same class. In Kids Muay Thai, children learn punches, kicks, elbows and knees through age-appropriate drills and games. The website also has a Kids MMA page, but that class is not on the current timetable, so ask whether it runs. The club stresses self-defence, discipline and confidence. The venue has a professional-sized MMA cage and boxing ring, an outdoor pool and free parking, according to the club. Prices are not published, so message the gym for fees and to confirm current class times.
The activity
Martial Arts, explained
Combat sports for children teach real techniques in a safe, controlled way. In Muay Thai and boxing, kids learn punches, kicks, knees and elbows on pads, with footwork and guard. Brazilian jiu-jitsu and freestyle wrestling are about balance, holds and escaping from the ground, using leverage rather than strength, which suits younger children well. Mixed martial arts (MMA) blends striking and grappling and is usually taught to older children and teens. Classes run as drills and games rather than fighting, and build coordination, fitness, self-defence basics and respect for partners and coaches. Many clubs start children from around four or five, grouping them by age so partners are a similar size.
Who it's for
Children and teenagers. The Kids Jiu Jitsu programme page gives ages 4-12. The timetable lists Youth BJJ, Kids Muay Thai, Kids Boxing, Youth Freestyle Wrestling, Teens Muay Thai and Teens MMA without age bands; ask the provider whether Youth BJJ is the Kids Jiu Jitsu class and which group suits your child. The Kids Jiu Jitsu and Kids Muay Thai pages say classes suit all skill levels.
What to expect
The club describes its kids classes as fun and structured: a mix of age-appropriate drills, games and interactive exercises led by its instructors. In Kids Jiu Jitsu, children practise fundamental Jiu Jitsu techniques; in Kids Muay Thai they work on striking with punches, kicks, elbows and knees. On the May 2025 timetable, kids classes run at 5PM Monday to Thursday, youth classes at 4PM and 5PM on Friday, and kids and youth classes from 10AM to 12PM at weekends; confirm current times. The website offers a free one-day full access pass through its booking form, booked at least 24 hours ahead. Ask whether this covers children's classes, what to bring and whether parents can watch.
