About Volcano PT Club JLT
Volcano PT Club is a personal training gym in The Dome Tower, JLT Cluster N, that also runs a full programme of kids' classes. Children can try karate, kickboxing, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, parkour, aerial dance and kids' fitness, and older children and teens can join a youth strength and conditioning programme. The club says classes are taught in small, semi-private groups by certified coaches. Its packages cover unlimited classes across several activities, so a child who starts with karate can also drop into parkour or gymnastics under the same membership. Starting ages depend on the class: parkour from 2.5 years, and most other classes from 3 or 4 - the club's pages differ on some ages, so confirm when you book. Most kids' classes run weekday afternoons and evenings and during the day at weekends, and the karate and rhythmic gymnastics pages mention morning and evening options. There is free parking, an air-conditioned studio and a waiting lounge for parents, and the first step is a free assessment booked on WhatsApp.
The activity
Martial Arts, explained
Kids' martial arts classes such as karate and kickboxing teach children to punch, kick, block and move with control, usually through warm-up games, technique drills on pads and bags, and partner work. Karate adds belts, so children can see their progress one step at a time, while kids' kickboxing is often taught as a fitness class with pads rather than sparring. Beyond fitness, parents usually look for focus, self-control, respect and confidence. Many clubs start children at around four. A free assessment or trial is the easiest way to see whether your child enjoys it.
Who it's for
Boys and girls from 2.5 years, depending on the class: parkour from 2.5; artistic gymnastics from 3 (the programme page says 2.5, so confirm); kickboxing from 3 on its programme page (the homepage says 4+, so confirm); kids' fitness from 4 (the programme page says 2.5, so confirm); karate and aerial dance from 4; rhythmic gymnastics for ages 4-14; youth strength and conditioning for ages 10-17. Kickboxing welcomes beginners with no martial arts experience. The club also runs adult classes and family fitness sessions where parents train alongside their children.
What to expect
Everything starts with a free assessment, booked on WhatsApp (+971 50 893 4977); one kids' page also calls it a free trial class. The kickboxing page describes a typical class: a warm-up with stretches, jumps and games, then kid-friendly technique drills on pads and bags, fitness games for strength and agility, partner work, and a cool-down with praise and encouragement. Karate follows a belt progression. Parkour is taught on soft mats and padded obstacles, progressing from basic movement drills. Groups are kept small. What your child should wear and bring is not published, so ask the club when you book.
