About The Olive Tree Language Training
The Olive Tree Language Training is a KHDA-approved Arabic language and skills institute in Al Qusais 1, in Suite 406 of the Sajaya 2 building, opposite Emirates Driving Institute and behind Nahda Metro Station. It began in 2010 as Noorul Ilm, a class of ten students, and now runs as a full-time centre for children and adults. Many of its courses are for adults, but several are for children. Discover Arabic, its programme for non-native speakers that gets learners talking from day one, has a children's fee of AED 1,399 per level. Mental Maths & Abacus is a four-level abacus programme for ages 5 to 8, and Read With Me is an English phonics programme for beginning readers. The site's 2025-26 calendar also listed an After School Arabic Support class for kids, taught by native Arab teachers. Its teachers include Al-Azhar graduates. It is rated 4.9 on Google from 62 reviews, and you can book a free trial class on its website.
The activity
Arabic, explained
Arabic classes teach children to read, write, speak and understand Arabic. Most start with the letters and their sounds, then build up to words, simple sentences and everyday conversation. For children from homes where Arabic isn't spoken, good classes use stories, games, pictures and movement so the language feels alive rather than like another school subject. Children who already hear Arabic at home tend to focus more on reading, writing and grammar. Arabic is taught in UAE schools, so many families use after-school classes to keep up or catch up, and some centres also teach Quran reading alongside. Many children start once they begin to read, in the early primary years and learning a second script builds memory and focus.
Who it's for
Children and adults. For children: Mental Maths & Abacus is for ages 5 to 8, with entry based on an evaluation; Read With Me – English Phonics is for beginning readers, in three stages (Basic, Level 1 and Level 2); Discover Arabic is for non-native speakers, has a separate children's fee, and places learners by evaluation. Exact ages for Discover Arabic and the phonics programme are not published, so ask the centre which group suits your child.
What to expect
Start with the free trial class, booked through the trial form on the website or on WhatsApp (+971 52 886 1056). Discover Arabic and Mental Maths & Abacus both place children by evaluation, so expect a level check first. In Discover Arabic, learners speak Arabic from day one, and letters, sounds and vocabulary are taught through gestures, storytelling, movement and real objects, with up to 30 hours per level over up to four months. Abacus classes run 60 to 90 minutes, once or twice a week, on a standard abacus frame only (no finger techniques or songs), with a monthly assessment and report to parents. Ask which class times fit around school.
