About Nahky Araby
Nahky Araby (نحكي عربي, roughly "we speak Arabic") is an Arabic-language centre for children aged 4 to 12. It was set up for families whose children spend most of the day in English and find Arabic lessons dull. Its main programme is the Sunday Club at Rove Downtown: a two-hour class every Sunday in term time, with children grouped by age and level. Classes cover reading, writing, listening and speaking in Modern Standard Arabic (fusha), plus grammar and learning classical poems by heart. Everything is taught through games, stories, role-play and friendly competitions. Families can add a 40-minute arts, crafts and educational games session in Arabic, and one-to-one online follow-up sessions. Nahky Araby also sends teachers to families' homes for private or small-group lessons, and runs Arabic workshops for schools, nurseries, libraries and birthday parties. Term 1 of 2026-27 runs from 13 September to 22 November 2026.
The activity
Arabic, explained
Arabic clubs for children are small-group classes that help kids read, write and speak Arabic with confidence, often alongside what they learn at school. Children usually work on reading aloud and understanding stories, writing from single letters up to full paragraphs, grammar, and speaking in Modern Standard Arabic (fusha), the form used in books, school and the news. Good clubs keep it playful with stories, songs, role-play, crafts and games, so Arabic feels like something fun rather than homework. They build vocabulary, reading fluency and the confidence to speak with family. Children often start once they begin reading at school, from about four or five.
Who it's for
Children aged 4 to 12 who want to build or strengthen their Arabic, including those who mostly speak English at school. In the Sunday Club, children are grouped by age and level. The site does not say whether it caters for additional needs, so ask the provider. Home lessons can be one-to-one or for groups of two or more children of the same age and level.
What to expect
The Sunday Club meets for two hours, either 10am-12pm or 1-3pm. Children listen to stories and talk about them, read aloud with guidance, practise writing at their own level, learn grammar through games and memorise short poems, all in fusha. The optional arts, crafts and games session runs 12.10-12.50pm. You can book a single trial Sunday session (AED 197) or a trial arts session (AED 50) before paying for a term. Term fees are non-refundable, and each child can have up to two make-up sessions a term. What to bring: ask the provider.
