Al Quoz

The Happy Studio is a colourful pop art space in Warehouse 73 at Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz. It is home to The Happy Box, a Dubai brand of craft activity boxes for children that launched in 2014, and it is where the boxes are made and personalised. For families, the studio's main offer is themed craft workshop parties. The website lists more than 30 two-hour packages, from Kitchen Lab experiments and Slimetastic slime making to Candle Craze, Make Your Own Birthday Cake, Labubu and Hello Kitty themes, priced from AED 125 to AED 215 per child. Each package spells out what the children make, such as dressing a mini teddy in a decorated T-shirt, tutu and headband, or painting a pre-designed canvas. Food and drinks are not included. The site also shows a summer camp of daily themed craft workshops, but its calendar dates from 2025. There are no regular weekly classes on the website, and you book by email or phone.

The activity

Arts & Crafts, explained

Arts and crafts sessions let children make something they can take home: painting, decorating, modelling, slime, candles or simple science experiments dressed up as craft. Children follow a guided project step by step while choosing their own colours and finishing touches, so every piece ends up a little different. Along the way they practise fine motor skills such as cutting, gluing and painting, learn to follow instructions and see a project through, and enjoy the pride of showing off something they made. Themed craft workshops tend to suit children from preschool age upwards, with simpler steps for the youngest. Clothes that can get a little messy are a good idea.

Who it's for

Children who love hands-on making, and parents planning a craft birthday party. The website does not publish age ranges for its workshop parties or its summer camp, so ask the studio which themes suit your child's age. The Happy Box activity boxes made at the studio are designed for children aged 3-11. The Google listing notes a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

What to expect

A workshop party lasts two hours at the studio, and each package lists the crafts the children do. Kitchen Lab, for example, covers dancing popcorn, a lava lamp experiment, balloon blowing and oobleck; Slimetastic covers metallic, butter, cloud and fluffy slime; You're Beary Cute has each child decorate a mini bear's T-shirt, tutu and headband. Food and drinks are not included, so plan catering separately. Two add-ons are listed: 10 helium balloons on the chairs for guests to take home (AED 100) and the birthday child's name on the backdrop (AED 50). No trial, minimum group size or age range is published; ask when you email to book.
