About Space and Rocketry Academy
Space and Rocketry Academy UAE (SARA UAE) is a space and STEM education academy run by Compass International from its base in the Dubai Cooperative Society Building on Marrakech Street, Al Garhoud. Its main programme, "At Your School", brings a NASA-inspired space curriculum into schools: over one to five days, children build their own scale model rocket and, where approvals allow, launch it, learn what living on the International Space Station is like, take on daily space challenges and work on a Mars mission design project. It is set out for three age groups, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18, and needs a group of at least 25 students, so it is booked by schools rather than families. For families, the academy runs Space Educamps at its Al Garhoud HQ, with multi-axis simulators, astronaut training, team challenges and space food. The last camp listed on its site ran on 27 and 28 March 2026, and no newer date is posted, so message the academy to ask about the next one. It is rated 4.9 on Google from 10 reviews.
The activity
Astronomy & Space, explained
Space and rocketry programmes turn the science behind space travel into things children can build and try. Kids design and put together their own model rockets (launching them where approvals allow), learn how astronauts live and work in space, and tackle quick team engineering challenges, often with a bigger design project such as planning a mission to Mars. Along the way they practise measuring, testing and fixing, and they learn to work as a team under a time limit. It suits curious children who like making things more than sitting still. At this academy the school programme is set out for three age groups, starting at 9-11 years.
Who it's for
The "At Your School" programme is for school groups (minimum 25 students) in three age bands: 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18 years. The March 2026 Space Educamp was open to "all UAE students" and booked by parents; no age range was given for it, so ask the provider which ages the next camp takes.
What to expect
The March 2026 Space Educamp ran 9AM-1PM on two days at SARA HQ in Al Garhoud. Children rode the academy's multi-axis simulators, learned how astronauts live, train and work in space, solved team space challenges and tasted food made for space. All activities, simulator access, rocket kits and stationery were included. The school programme adds rocketry, an ISS module and a Mars mission design project, with programme materials, real space food samples, manuals and certificates. Trial sessions are not mentioned: ask the provider.
