The activity

Swimming, explained

Learn-to-swim programmes take children from first getting comfortable in the water through to independent, confident swimming and stroke technique. Younger children usually start with water confidence and safety basics: floating, blowing bubbles and getting used to going underwater. They then move on to kicking, arm technique and full strokes such as front crawl and backstroke. In small groups or one-to-one, an instructor can watch a child's technique closely and correct it early. Most swim schools group children by ability rather than age alone, moving them up through beginner, intermediate and advanced levels as their skills and confidence grow. Along the way, swimming builds water safety, fitness, coordination and a lot of confidence.

Who it's for

The academy says its swimming programme "caters to all ages and skill levels", from beginners to advanced swimmers, and its 2026 posts invite parents to find the right swimming class for their child. SIMBR Sports describes itself as ideal for beginners to professional players and kids to adults. No minimum age is published, so ask the academy what the youngest starting age is.

What to expect

Lessons take place at Pristine Private School in Al Nahda 2. SIMBR says its certified instructors start with the fundamentals and build towards advanced technique, with water safety and confidence part of the programme, and that coaches match their attention to each swimmer's learning abilities. In a September 2026 post the academy explains that when children are learning to swim, coaches gently guide their hands, arms and legs to help them feel the right movements, building coordination and confidence in the water. Time slots are arranged individually. Ask the academy about a first lesson, what to bring and whether a trial is possible.
