Swimming, explained

Learn-to-swim lessons take children from water confidence and floating through to full stroke technique and safety skills, either one-to-one or in small groups with a qualified instructor. Kids progress through structured stages - getting comfortable in the water, learning to breathe and kick, then building front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke. Many programmes accept toddlers once they are happy in the water with a coach, and carry on right through to teens working on technique, endurance or competition. Private lessons move at the child's own pace, which suits nervous beginners. Regular weekly sessions build muscle memory and confidence faster than occasional lessons.

Who it's for

Kids Training 2+ is for total beginners with no experience. The Intermediate & Pro programmes (technique, endurance and triathlon training) are for swimmers who want to fix their technique, breathing or endurance; no age band is given for them.
