SET GO Cricket Academy: cricket coaching at Pearl Wisdom School, Abu Hail
About SET GO Cricket Academy
SET GO Cricket Academy trains young cricketers at Pearl Wisdom School in Abu Hail, Dubai. The academy describes itself as a training facility for aspiring young cricketing talents in and around the UAE, and its coaching team is led by CP Rizwan, listed on its coaches page as a former UAE international captain and ECB Level 2 coach. Other names on that page include coach Kasela (ICC Level 3), coach Adeeb Usmani, fast-bowling consultant Zahoor Khan and strength and conditioning consultant Azhar Qureshi. Training is split into five programmes: skill training (batting, bowling and fielding), one-on-one coaching, fitness training, field training and video analysis. The academy says sessions include warm-ups and fitness work, drills, running between wickets and net practice, and that it also runs tournaments. Photos on its site show junior squads in academy kit alongside adult players and corporate teams. Ages, prices and a timetable are not on the website, so message the academy on WhatsApp to ask which group would suit your child.
The activity
Cricket, explained
Cricket is a bat-and-ball team game. In a coaching session children work on the three core skills: batting (footwork, playing straight, choosing the right shot), bowling (a legal action, line and length, then pace or spin) and fielding (catching, ground fielding and throwing). Most sessions mix warm-ups and fitness work, drills and net practice, where a player bats against bowlers or a bowling machine inside a netted lane. Match play teaches teamwork, patience and decision-making under pressure. Many children start with soft-ball games at primary-school age before moving on to a hard ball, pads and a helmet. Ask each academy which age groups it takes.
Who it's for
Aspiring young cricketers (the academy's own words); a review on its site calls it a good fit for both beginners and advanced players. Junior squads appear in its photos, and it also coaches adults and corporate teams. Age groups are not published: ask the provider.
What to expect
The academy says a training session includes warm-ups and exercises for fitness and stamina, drills, running between wickets and net practice to improve batting strokes and bowling accuracy and action, with coaches picking out and correcting small mistakes. Skill training covers batting, bowling and fielding; one-on-one coaching uses video analysis, and a separate video-analysis programme reviews technique frame by frame and in slow motion. A parent review quoted on the site mentions nets practice with a bowling machine at different speeds. Kit list, trial policy and session length are not published: ask the provider.
