Danube Cricket Academy: indoor cricket coaching at Danube Sports World
About Danube Cricket Academy
Danube Cricket Academy is the cricket coaching programme at Danube Sports World, the indoor sports centre at Al Habtoor City off Al Meydan Road. Its programmes start from age 4 and it welcomes both boys and girls, with levels running from complete beginner to advanced. New young players start in DCA Launch Pad, a beginner group of 6 players that lasts an hour and a half and focuses on fun, skill-based learning, hand-eye coordination and discipline. Intermediate players move to DCA Level Up, and there are also outdoor match-awareness sessions (DCA Pro Yards), an elite group of 3 (DCA Pro Lab) and strength and conditioning. The head coach is Raiphi Vincent Gomez, a former IPL player and former Kerala Ranji Trophy captain. Core training is in the indoor nets year-round, with 3 practice nets, 3 multi-purpose nets, bowling machines and video analysis with ball tracking. The academy runs internal matches, leagues and age-group tournaments. You can book a free screening class, but fees are not published online, so contact the academy for a quote.
The activity
Cricket, explained
Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport: one side bats, trying to score runs, while the other bowls and fields to get batters out. Young beginners usually start with soft balls, short drills and small games that teach them to hold the bat, throw, catch and stop the ball, then move on to proper batting strokes, bowling actions and fielding positions. Indoor nets let children practise batting and bowling in a safe, lane-like space whatever the weather. The sport builds hand-eye coordination, concentration, patience and teamwork, and it gives children a clear path from fun sessions to matches and leagues. At this academy, children can start from age 4.
Who it's for
Children from age 4, as well as adults; the academy says its programmes are tailored for every stage from there. Boys and girls are both welcome. Levels: Beginner (DCA Launch Pad, described as for kids new to cricket), Intermediate (DCA Level Up), Intermediate-Advanced (DCA Pro Yards) and Advanced/semi-professional (DCA Pro Lab - Elite). The site does not publish separate age bands for each group, so ask the provider which group suits your child. No information on special needs support is published.
What to expect
Your first step is a free screening session, where a coach looks at your child's skills and recommends the right training level. Complete beginners usually join DCA Launch Pad: groups of 6 players, 1.5 hours a session, built around fun skill-based learning, hand-eye coordination and discipline. Players can train up to 4 sessions a week. The academy says each programme includes skill training, fitness sessions and access to its indoor facilities, and progress is tracked with video analysis and performance metrics. Parents can watch from viewing areas. The site does not say what kit to bring or when groups run, so ask the provider when you book.
