About Sargam Dance and Music Institute
Sargam Dance and Music Institute is a dance and music school in Muhaisnah 4, Dubai, founded in 2017 by Guru Smt. Kalakshetra Saritha Ratheesh, a Kalakshetra-trained classical dancer with 20 years of teaching in India and the UAE who leads the teaching as academic director and head teacher. The participants poster for its Sargam'25 Nritha Sandhya show pictures many children and teenagers, and adults have their own classes for beginners and advanced learners. There is personalised coaching for students preparing for competitions and plenty of stage performances, including an annual day show. The institute's event posters describe it as KHDA approved. A second branch is in Abu Shagara, Sharjah. Timings, fees and enrolment details are shared on request. On Google it holds a 5.0 rating from 7 reviews, all five stars.
The activity
Dance, explained
Indian dance and music classes teach a skill through steady weekly practice and performance. At Sargam that means the South Indian classical forms Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi, plus Bollywood and hip-hop dance, vocal music and lessons on guitar, keyboard, drums and violin. Classical dance combines footwork, hand gestures and expression, so it builds rhythm, memory, posture and stage confidence; instrument and vocal lessons build listening and coordination. Beginners are welcome - the institute says it is for dancers and non-dancers alike - and students can work towards stage shows such as the institute's annual day performance. Starting ages vary by school and discipline, so ask about the youngest age taken for each class.
Who it's for
Children, teenagers and adults. The participants poster for the institute's Sargam'25 Nritha Sandhya show pictures many children and teenagers, the Google listing marks it as good for kids, and the website says adults have their own classes for beginners and advanced learners. The Dubai enquiry form offers Beginner, Intermediate and Professional levels and Classical or Semi Classical categories. No age groups or minimum age are published, so ask which classes suit your child's age.
What to expect
The website doesn't describe a first lesson, a trial class or what to wear, so ask the provider. To enquire, the Dubai branch page has a form where you choose a preferred time - weekday or weekend, morning or evening - plus a category (Classical or Semi Classical) and a level; the institute says it will share timings, fees and enrolment details on request. You can also call the Dubai branch on +971 50 578 5975. Students get chances to perform on stage, and the institute stages an annual day show - the 2025 edition was held at Amity University Auditorium, Dubai International Academic City.
