Martial Arts, explained

Kickboxing blends boxing punches with kicks drawn from martial arts such as karate and muay thai. In a kids' session, children learn stance, footwork, punch and kick combinations and pad work with a coach, usually without full-contact sparring at younger ages. It builds coordination, balance, cardio fitness and focus, and many coaches use it to teach self-control alongside basic self-defence. Children commonly start from around age 6, though the right starting age depends on the coach and the child, so it is worth asking before booking. Ask the trainers how their own sessions are run, including group size and whether sparring is included.
