About Heroes of Hope
Heroes of Hope is a non-profit sports academy for People of Determination - children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities - founded by Hollie Murphy, a PE teacher who specialised in special needs coaching for 15 years and is also head coach for its daily sessions. Its Activities page lists over 20 weekly inclusive sessions in Dubai, from Junior Gymnastics and Junior Functional Fitness for ages 7-12 to cricket, tennis, cycling, boxing with pads and bags, non-contact rugby, swimming, bowling, padel, musical theatre, Bollywood dancing and a Family Running Club. Each session lists its own age group and weekly time; the timetable was last updated in April 2026, so confirm current days and times when you register. Most activity pages describe sessions adapted to suit all abilities. Venues are not published: you complete a one-time athlete registration form and the team sends the exact venue once you are confirmed, and there are no walk-ins. Heroes of Hope is rated 5.0 on Google from 28 reviews. Fees are not published, so ask the team when you register.
The activity
Adaptive Sports, explained
Adaptive sport means ordinary sports - swimming, cycling, athletics, basketball, gymnastics and more - coached so that children with additional needs can take part fully. Coaches adjust the pace, the equipment, the group size and the way instructions are given, and a child may start with a parent or carer alongside them before training more independently. Sessions build fitness, coordination and strength, but just as much they build confidence, turn-taking and friendships with other children. There is no single right starting age: the right fit depends on each child's needs rather than a birthday, so it is worth talking it through with the coaches first.
Who it's for
Children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities (People of Determination), of any ability. Each weekly session sets its own age group: Junior Gymnastics and Junior Functional Fitness are for ages 7-12; cricket, tennis, Bollywood dancing and the Family Running Club are 7+; beginner basketball, musical theatre, non-contact rugby and swimming are 10+; bowling and padel 12+; athletics 14+; powerlifting 16+. Indoor, junior and senior cycling, junior and senior boxing, senior functional fitness and advanced basketball are open to all ages.
What to expect
Every session needs registration first: fill in the one-time athlete registration form, and once you are confirmed the team sends you the exact venue. Walk-ins are not accepted. Most sessions last an hour. Under the academy's Inclusion Policy (August 2026), support needs are identified at registration, and where a child needs one-to-one support it may come from an assigned coach, Junior Coach or support volunteer. Published ratios are one coach to three independent athletes, one to two for moderate support needs, and one to one where needed. Indoor Cycling is loud, so noise-cancelling headphones are suggested for noise-sensitive children. Swimming is for children who can already swim. Fees, kit and trials: ask the provider.
