About Gulf United

Gulf United is a football club founded in 2019 whose academy is based at Kings' School Al Barsha, on four floodlit grass and 3G pitches. Powered by adidas, it groups children into phases: Mini Eagles (ages 4-7), Foundation (8-10), Youth Development (11-15) and Professional Development (16-19). Every coach holds at least a UEFA B licence, and complete beginners are welcome, especially in the younger groups. After a trial, coaches recommend either Development (skills-focused training with friendly matches) or Squads (coach-selected, with full league registration). There is also Velocity Girls, a girls-only academy for ages 4 to 15. The club says it has 600+ players from 83 nationalities, 120+ players placed at US and Canadian universities, and a first team in UAE Division 1. Fees and training times are published on its website, and the first step is a free trial with no commitment.

The activity

Football, explained

Football (soccer) coaching gives kids structured practice in ball control, passing, teamwork and match play, usually through small-sided games that keep every child involved and on the ball. Sessions build fitness, coordination and confidence, and academies group children by age so drills match their stage of development. Younger children focus on fun and movement skills; older players add tactics, positions and league matches against other clubs. Many academies take children from around age 4, and complete beginners are usually welcome. It suits kids who like being part of a team and enjoy an outdoor, high-energy environment.

Who it's for

Boys and girls from age 4 up to 19, in four phases: Mini Eagles (ages 4-7), Foundation Phase (8-10), Youth Development Phase (11-15) and Professional Development Phase (16-19). No experience is needed; the club says many players start as complete beginners. Girls can also join Velocity Girls, the club's girls-only academy for ages 4 to 15. Players must live in the UAE to trial (the club cites FIFA rules).

What to expect

Register for the free trial on the club's website with your child's name, date of birth and a parent WhatsApp number; the coaching team says it will contact you within 48 hours to confirm the trial date. The trial is a structured session at Kings School Al Barsha, where coaches assess technical ability, game intelligence and attitude. Every trialist gets personal feedback from the coaching staff and a recommendation for Squads or Development. If your child is offered a place, they are placed in the right age group and phase, and you choose a package and buy the season's kit pack. Ask the club what to bring and where parents can wait.
