The activity

Painting, explained

Children's art classes teach kids to draw, shade, colour and paint, starting with simple shapes and building towards full pictures of their own. Along the way they learn to look closely, plan an idea on paper and see it through, which builds patience, fine motor control and confidence in their own work. Global Art's core Visual Art programme is taught in six levels - Junior, Foundation, Pre-basic, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced - covering ideation, composition, drawing, shading, colouring and painting technique, for ages 3 to 17. Enhancement programmes add acrylic painting, clay modelling (G-Clay) and cartoons and comics, so a child who loves one medium can go further with it.

Who it's for

Children aged 3 to 18, according to the branch page; Global Art UAE's programmes page gives ages 3 to 17 for the core Visual Art course. Ask the branch which of the six levels suits your child's age and experience.
