About Genius Minds Training Institute

Genius Minds is a learning centre on Level 2 of Circle Mall in Jumeirah Village Circle, teaching robotics, coding and chess to children. The centre says its courses are for ages 5-16+. In robotics, each class is a small project: children design, build, code and test a model, using MatataStudio's screen-free coding robots, such as Tale-Bot, for younger learners and LEGO Education kits up to SPIKE Prime for older ones. The coding programme moves through Minecraft Education, Code.org, Roblox Studio, Python and Unreal Engine, with JavaScript, Lua and basic C++ at advanced levels, on touchscreen computers with keyboard and mouse. Chess is taught by professional coaches in a dedicated chess classroom, and every chess student gets a personal subscription to a partner platform (ChessforKids, Duolingo Plus or Chess.com) to keep practising at home. Classes run in English, with multilingual support. Trial lessons can be requested through the form on the website; prices and timetables are not published, so ask the centre.

The activity

Robotics, explained

Robotics classes for children mix building, coding and problem-solving. Kids put together a model from kit such as LEGO bricks, motors and sensors, then write a simple program to make it move, react or complete a mission. When it doesn't work first time, they test, tweak and try again, which is where much of the learning happens. Younger children often start with screen-free tools, arranging coding blocks or cards to steer a small robot, before moving on to apps and tablets. Along the way they practise sequencing, logic and teamwork, and often present what they built. Many centres take children from around five, with more complex robots for older kids.

Who it's for

Children aged 5-16+, as the centre states on its home page; it asks parents to get in touch to find the course that suits their child's age. Programmes run from beginner level upwards: MatataStudio screen-free coding for the youngest, LEGO SPIKE Prime and text-based languages for older and advanced students, and chess from first moves to tournament play. Age bands per course, levels and any special-needs support are not published, so ask the provider.

What to expect

Start by requesting a trial lesson or consultation through the form on the website; the centre can also be reached by phone or WhatsApp. In a robotics class, children work in pairs or small groups on a mini-project: build, code, test, improve and then present the result to classmates and parents. Coding students work on touchscreen computers with keyboard and mouse, individually and in teams. Chess students also get a home subscription to a partner chess platform. Lesson length, group size, kit to bring and trial cost are not published, so ask the provider.
