ESMOD Dubai is the Dubai campus of the French fashion school ESMOD, based at Dubai International Academic City. Most of what it teaches is for people heading into the fashion industry: a Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research accredited BA in fashion design, masterclasses, summer workshops and five-day sewing courses. For children there is one programme: the Fashion Design Workshop for Kids, a single summer week for ages 8 to 14. The next one runs Monday 5 to Friday 9 July 2027, 10am to 5pm each day, and costs AED 1500 in total with supplies included. Children work through beginner exercises that follow a designer's creative process, and the week ends with a mini fashion show where they present their designs to parents. Sewing & Fashion, explained

Fashion design for children is about turning an idea into something you can wear or show. Kids usually start by looking at colours, shapes and fabrics, then sketch outfits on paper, try simple textile techniques and build a small collection around a theme. Along the way they practise drawing, planning a project from start to finish and explaining their choices to others. Many children enjoy it from around eight, once they can concentrate on a drawing or a hands-on task for a good stretch of time. It suits creative children who love clothes, colour and making things, and it needs no sewing experience to begin.

Who it's for

Children aged 8 to 14 (the school's stated target audience for the kids' workshop). No experience is asked for. The school's other courses, including its summer workshops and five-day sewing courses, are aimed at people heading into the fashion industry and future degree students, and publish no children's age band.
