About Dance with Anisha
Dance with Anisha is a dance school at DAMAC Hills Community Centre, founded in Dubai in 2021 by Anisha Jain Safaya. She teaches the classes herself and places each new dancer in a group by age and experience. The studio calls itself an open style academy: one class mixes hip hop, funk, commercial, lyrical and contemporary instead of sticking to a single style. Children can start at four in Kids Open Style (Beginners). Kids Open Style (Advanced) is for ages 8 to 10, and Open Style batches run from age 9 and from 14, plus an advanced group. There are classes for adults too, and one-to-one lessons by appointment. Anisha started with Bharatnatyam at seven. She later trained at Shiamak Davar's institute and holds diplomas from Broadway Dance Center in New York and Danceworks UK. Students perform on stage at showcases. Parents on Google write about the confidence and discipline their daughters have gained, and every one of the 26 reviews is five stars.
The activity
Dance, explained
Open style is a mixed dance class rather than one single style. In one term, children can move between hip hop, funk, commercial (the kind of dance you see in music videos), lyrical and contemporary. Younger children start with warm-ups, simple steps and short routines set to upbeat music. Older dancers work on longer choreography, musicality and stage performance. Along the way they build coordination, fitness, memory for sequences and the confidence to perform in front of others. At this studio, children can start at four.
Who it's for
Children from age 4. The kids' groups on the timetable are Kids Open Style (Beginners) for 4 to 8 years and Kids Open Style (Advanced) for 8 to 10 years. Older children and teens join Open Style (Beginners) for 9 years and up or 14 years and up, or Open Style (Advanced). No dance background is needed, and Anisha places each new dancer by age and experience. The registration form lets you pick boys or girls. Adult Dancefit (20 years and up) and private lessons are also offered. The site doesn't mention special needs provision, so ask the provider.
What to expect
New students usually begin with a trial class (AED 80). Your child joins a real class for their age and level. No experience is needed. Kids Open Style starts with warm-ups, followed by upbeat choreography and creative movement. Children wear comfortable activewear and clean indoor trainers and bring a water bottle. No uniform is needed to start. After the trial you can pay per class or buy a package. Book through the website's registration form, the enquiry form or WhatsApp, and the studio confirms the batch. The registration form asks whether you consent to class content appearing on social media.
