About Craft and Play
Craft and Play is an indoor children's centre at Avenue Mall in Mirdif that mixes free play with hands-on workshops. The play side takes in a soft play area, a toddlers' area, an adventure course, a climbing wall and a zipline, with a café for parents. Alongside the play there are hands-on workshops: art and craft sessions, an Impression Studio for messy painting, science experiments, gardening, a terrarium workshop where children meet turtles and build a turtle habitat, a Mini Crafty Chef cooking workshop and Little Aquarist, where children learn to care for fish. The centre says it welcomes children from 6 months to 11 years. For the youngest there is Crafty Little Tots, sensory play for ages 1.5 to 3.5, and CraftyVille Toddlers, a Montessori-inspired programme with weekly themes and circle time. Craft and Play also runs themed birthday parties. It says it was founded in 2018.
The activity
Arts & Crafts, explained
Arts and crafts workshops give children a table, materials and a guide, then let them make something they can take home: a painted pot, a slime experiment, a sand picture or a canvas. Along the way they practise cutting, gluing, mixing colours and following steps, which builds fine motor control, patience and the confidence to try an idea and see it through. Messy, open-ended painting lets younger children explore texture and colour, while older children can follow a technique such as acrylic pouring. Sensory play and simple crafts suit toddlers from around 18 months; guided projects suit school-age children who can sit for a full session.
Who it's for
Children from 6 months to 11 years in the play area, according to the centre's FAQ. Children aged 4 to 10 can be left without a nanny; for other ages, ask the provider. Crafty Little Tots is for ages 1.5 to 3.5. Ask the provider which workshops suit your child's age.
What to expect
The website suggests booking a visit first. Children can use the play attractions for their age (the FAQ says access varies by age group), and workshops run as separate sessions: a child might paint, make slime, plant something in the gardening workshop or cook, then take the result home. Crafty Little Tots sessions last 1 hour 30 minutes and run throughout the day. There is no whole-day pass. Parents can sit in the on-site café while children play. For trial sessions, workshop prices and what to bring, ask the provider.
