About Wisdom Warehouse
Wisdom Warehouse is a learning centre at Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz, set up by parents and educators for children who don't thrive in a traditional classroom: those who are sensitive, anxious, creative or who learn differently. It runs one-to-one tutoring from age 4 in maths, reading, writing, phonics, Arabic, French and Spanish, starting with a paid assessment. For children aged 4 to 13 there is a primary enrichment programme that mixes academic lessons with a daily art, science or project workshop, full or part time, and home-schooling families can use it alongside their own curriculum. High-school students can study an accredited American or British online school programme in person, with teachers as mentors. Weekly art and science workshops and school-holiday camps round it off. The centre has announced it is moving, so check the address before your first visit.
The activity
Learning Support, explained
Learning support covers the extra help a child gets outside a normal school lesson: one-to-one tutoring to catch up or stretch ahead, small-group sessions, and hands-on workshops that come at a subject from a different angle. It usually starts with an assessment, so the teacher can see where a child is strong and where they are stuck, then builds a plan around that. Children work on reading, writing, phonics or maths at their own pace, and the aim is as much about confidence as marks. It suits children who find a busy classroom hard, who learn differently, or who are home-schooled, and at Wisdom Warehouse tutoring starts from age 4.
Who it's for
Tutoring is for children aged 4 and up, from early learners to middle school. The primary enrichment programme and the weekly workshops are for ages 4 to 13; there is also a programme for high-school learners. The centre says it is aimed at children who are sensitive, anxious, creative or learn differently, and at home-schooling, unschooling and hybrid-learning families.
What to expect
Tutoring starts with an assessment that must be booked in advance. It covers the subjects you choose, and afterwards a teacher meets you to go through the results and recommendations; there is no written report. Tutoring itself is one-to-one, hands-on and linked to school curricula, with regular progress updates for parents. The enrichment programme runs in small groups, and each workshop has its own weekly slot. Trial sessions and regular tutoring or programme fees are not published, so ask the provider. For holiday camp, children bring a snack or lunch, a water bottle and clothes that can get messy.
