Wellness Hub: play, art and sandplay therapy for children in JLT
About Wellness Hub
Wellness Hub (also called Dr. Ola Wellness Hub) is a psychology practice in JBC4, JLT, a two-minute walk from JLT metro. It sees adults, couples and families, and runs a child and adolescent service with its own playroom. Play therapy is for children aged 3 to 12: the child leads, and parents come alone to the first session and then check in every four sessions. Sandplay therapy is offered for ages 6 to 16 and art therapy for children aged 3 to 16, both in English and Russian and ideally in person. There are also small psychologist-led groups for social skills, emotional intelligence, anti-bullying, breathwork and mindfulness, adoption support and preparing an older sibling for a new baby. Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly. The clinic says it direct-bills most major UAE insurers and will confirm your cover on WhatsApp before you book. Fees are not listed on the site, so ask when you message.
The activity
Creative & Play Therapy, explained
Play therapy is a form of psychotherapy for children who cannot yet put what they feel into words. In a quiet playroom with toys, a sand tray, small figures and art materials, the child leads and the therapist watches for patterns, gently helping the child make sense of worries, big feelings or changes at home. Art therapy works the same way through drawing, paint and clay, and sandplay through scenes built in a tray of sand. There is no teaching and no right answer. Parents meet the therapist separately so progress carries over at home. Children usually start play therapy from about age three; sandplay and art-based work suit older children and teenagers too.
Who it's for
Play therapy: children aged 3-12; the team also works with parents of children under 3. Sandplay therapy: children and teenagers aged 6-16. Art therapy: children aged 3-16 (and adults). Child psychology covers early years through adolescence, for things like anxiety, tantrums and big emotions, school refusal, friendship difficulties, sleep and family changes such as a move, a new sibling or separation. Children's groups are small and age-matched; ask which group fits your child's age.
What to expect
Start with a WhatsApp message; the clinic offers a free 15-minute initial call with no commitment and will match you to a psychologist. For play therapy, session one is with the parents alone to go over the concern and family history. From session two the sessions are the child's, in a playroom with a sand tray, small figures, art materials and soft seating, with a parent check-in every four sessions. Sessions last 50 minutes, weekly as standard. The clinic suggests a minimum of 6-12 play therapy sessions. Cancellations with 24 hours' notice are free.
