About Urban Swim Academy

Urban Swim Academy teaches kids' swimming at school and club pools across Dubai. The branches here are Jebel Ali School, Dubai British School Mira, Wellfit Meydan and Jumeirah Islands Club. Learn to Swim starts at age 3 and moves through six levels, from Level 1 Guppy to Level 6 Stroke Excellence, with separate Youth classes for older beginners. Squads take swimmers from 8 years, from the Foundation Squad up to the Senior Performance Squad, and parent-and-child classes for babies and toddlers run at some pools. Every child starts with a free 5-10 minute one-to-one assessment so they join the right level, and group classes are booked by the term, with single sessions listed at 115 AED for Learn to Swim and 130 AED for squads. Which programmes run depends on the pool, so pick a branch on this page to see what it offers.

The activity

Swimming, explained

Swim lessons teach children water safety and stroke technique in progressive stages, from getting comfortable in the water through to full stroke development and, for keen older swimmers, squad training. Classes are usually run in small groups by age and ability, and many schools start children in learn-to-swim groups from around age 3. Beyond the physical skill, regular lessons build water confidence and safety awareness that matters year-round in a city full of pools, beaches and a long coastline, and squads add fitness, discipline and team spirit.

Who it's for

Children from age 3 in the Learn to Swim levels (Level 1 Guppy to Level 6 Stroke Excellence), older beginners in the Youth classes, and swimmers from 8 years in the squads. Parent-and-child classes for babies and toddlers (3 months to 3 years) are listed at some pools only. ECA lessons are run for the school's own students, so ask the branch you pick before booking one.

What to expect

Your child starts with a free assessment: a quick 5-10 minute one-to-one swim with a coach, who checks their skills against the academy's curriculum and places them in the right level. Arrive five minutes early with your child already changed into their swimming costume; a cap and goggles are optional if they are comfortable in them. Level 1 Guppy classes last 30 minutes and Levels 2-5 and Youth last 45 minutes, in small groups with a low swimmer-to-coach ratio. Group classes are then booked by the term; Term 1 runs 31 August 2026 to 7 February 2027. Class days and times are not published, so ask the branch you pick.
