About HUNA Aquatics

HUNA Aquatics is a Dubai swimming academy that teaches at resort pools, a golf estate and schools, with venues from Jumeirah and Jumeirah Golf Estates to Barsha and JVT. Children work up through set levels, from Tadpole (3-4 years) to Squad (11 years and older), in small groups of three to ten depending on the level. HUNA also runs Babies Classes with a parent in the water, Special Needs Classes with coaches trained in adaptive teaching, and 1-on-1 sessions. Every new swimmer starts with a free assessment so a coach can place them in the right level. The academy says its coaches have competed for their countries, and that it is accredited by the UAE Sports Federation and the Dubai Sports Council. Classes run by term; the fall term is 31 August to 20 December 2026. The pool differs by venue: Jumeirah Mina A'Salam has an indoor, temperature-controlled pool, while Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Jumeirah Golf Estates have a 5-lane, 25 m lap pool. The activity

Swimming, explained

Swimming lessons teach children water confidence and safety first, then stroke technique as they progress. The youngest swimmers start with breath control, putting their face in the water, floating and paddling, often with a parent close by. Next come kicking on the front and back, safe entries into the pool and travelling independently through the water. Older children learn the arm pulls for all four strokes, treading water and turns, then build distance and stamina, and some move on to squad training and galas. Along the way, swimming builds fitness, coordination and a life skill every child in a city by the sea needs.

Who it's for

Children from 3 upwards in the group levels: Tadpole 3-4 years, Jelly Fish 4-6, Sea Horse 5-7, Mantas 6-8, Dolphin 6-8, Shark 7-10, Intermediate Squad 7-11 and Squad 11 years and older. Babies join Babies Classes with a parent. Children with special needs have their own classes, and 1-on-1 sessions suit beginners through to experienced swimmers. Adults and ladies-only classes are also offered. Ask which classes run at the venue you pick.

What to expect

A free assessment comes first: a coach watches your child swim and places them in the right level, so bring swimwear and goggles. Babies can book a free trial class. Group sessions last 30 minutes for the younger levels, 45 for Shark and 60 or more for the squads. Arrive at least five minutes early with a HUNA cap, goggles, costume and water bottle, and a light snack only beforehand. At Mina A'Salam, one parent can stay for the whole class for babies, Toddler, Tadpole and Jellyfish; from Mantas up, parents drop off and collect. Ask the venue you pick about its parent rules. Parents are invited to watch the last session of each month. Terms are paid in full up front.
