About The Brain Workshop
The Brain Workshop is a cognitive skills training centre in Apex Atrium, Motor City, and says it has served UAE families since 2005. Instead of re-teaching school subjects, it trains the skills a child learns with: attention, memory, processing speed, logic and reasoning, and auditory and visual processing. Every child starts with an assessment (the Gibson Test), which comes with a written report and a consultation that walks parents through the scores. From there the centre recommends a personalised programme, run one-to-one with a personal brain trainer and backed by computer-based training at the centre. Programmes include BrainRx for general cognitive skills, an Early Intervention programme for ages 4+, ReadRx for reading and spelling (ages six to adult) and MathRx (ages 8 and above), plus support for children with ADHD, dyslexia, autism and learning difficulties, and for gifted students. Skills are measured before and after training, so parents can see what changed. It also works with adults and companies. It is rated 4.9 on Google from 77 reviews.
The activity
Learning Support, explained
Cognitive skills training, often called brain training, works on the skills underneath schoolwork rather than the schoolwork itself: attention, working memory, processing speed, logic and reasoning, and how a child hears and sees information. A child first sits an assessment that maps strengths and weaker spots. A trainer then works one-to-one with them on intense mental exercises and games, usually alongside computer-based drills, and the child is re-tested at the end so parents can see what changed. It is different from tutoring, which re-teaches missed content. Families usually come to it when reading, maths, focus or memory is holding a child back, and some centres start from age 4.
Who it's for
Children from age 4 (Early Intervention and AccelerateRX: ages 4+), primary and secondary pupils, teens and adults. ReadRx is for ages six to adult; MathRx for ages 8 and above. The centre supports children who struggle with focus, reading, spelling, maths or memory, children with ADHD, dyslexia, autism or other learning difficulties, and gifted students aiming higher.
What to expect
The first step is a cognitive skills assessment, the Gibson Test, which measures memory, attention, processing speed, logic and reasoning, auditory processing and visual processing, plus an IQ score. You get a written report with age-equivalent, standard and percentile scores, and a consultation where the team talks you through it and recommends a one-to-one training plan. Training sessions pair your child with a personal brain trainer for intense mental exercises, with computer-based training at the centre on top. The Early Intervention page invites parents to book a free assessment; ask the provider what the free step covers, and about session length, frequency, programme length and fees, which the site does not publish.
