About Talent swimming Academy
Talent Swimming Academy teaches swimming at Hamdan Sports Complex, Exit 611, in Madinat Hind 2, opposite Global Village on Emirates Road. Its Learn-to-Swim programme starts at age 3 - the academy calls these its Baby Swimming Lessons - with water safety, confidence, floating, breathing and kicking, and children then work through the skill sets of each level towards the different strokes. Kids' lessons are open to beginners, advanced swimmers and nervous first-timers. The website also lists ladies-only lessons with female coaches, adult lessons and water polo at Foundation, Development and Competition stages - ask which of these are running now. The academy says 92% of its students have completed its Learn to Swim programme. It holds a 5.0 rating on Google from 104 reviews, 103 of them five stars. You can start at any time if there is space in the schedule, and the academy suggests booking early as lessons fill quickly.
The activity
Swimming, explained
Learn-to-swim lessons take children through water confidence and breathing first, then floating, kicking and basic strokes, before building towards front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke technique. Children usually move up a level once they can safely complete the skills in their current one, so progress depends on the child rather than the calendar. Many swim schools start children from around age 3-4 in small-group sessions. Once strokes are solid, some children go on to squad training or water sports such as water polo, which add fitness, teamwork and game sense.
Who it's for
Children from age 3 (the Learn-to-Swim programme starts at 3), from beginners to advanced swimmers and nervous first-timers. The website also lists a ladies-only programme with female coaches and adult lessons from complete beginner to triathlon training. For water polo, age bands, a boys/girls split or support for children with additional needs, ask the provider.
What to expect
A first Learn-to-Swim level covers water safety and confidence, with floating, breathing and kicking to help children get a feel for the water; these movements are used throughout the programme as children work through each level's skill sets. You can start at any time if there is space in the schedule, and the academy suggests booking early as lessons fill quickly. Lesson times, prices, kit lists, refund and make-up rules, and whether a trial class is offered are not published - ask the provider when you get in touch.
