The activity

Swimming, explained

Swimming lessons build water confidence and safety first - breathing, floating and getting comfortable with the face in the water - before moving on to the main strokes: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Beginners usually start with kicking, gliding and holding their breath, then join those skills into short swims. Children who can already swim work on technique, stamina and turns. Swimming is a life skill as much as a sport, and in a city with this many pools and beaches it is one many families put first. Starting ages vary by instructor, so ask which ages and levels a coach takes before booking.

Who it's for

Children from age 3 up to advanced swimmers, according to a January 2026 post on the coach's Facebook page: beginners learning the basics, and children who already swim working on technique and performance. Adults are taught too. Ask which group suits your child's age and level.

What to expect

The coach's January 2026 posts describe the lessons: swimming basics for beginners, correcting technical mistakes and improving performance, individual and group programmes, and following safety rules in the pool. A February 2026 post describes classes for kids at Al Nasr Club in Oud Metha, in small groups with personal attention, and offers a free trial lesson. Private lessons for children and adults are mentioned too, at flexible times. Before the first lesson, ask how long it lasts, how many children are in the group, which days and times suit your child, what to bring and whether the free trial still applies.
