The activity

Swimming, explained

Swimming lessons teach children water confidence and technique step by step: starting with breath control and floating, moving through basic strokes, then building endurance and speed. Most academies start children from around age 3-4 in parent-and-child or small-group formats, progressing to independent stroke work as confidence grows. Lessons are usually weekly, either in a group or one-to-one, and coaches track progress through informal levels or badges. It suits most children, and beyond the safety benefit it builds fitness and confidence in and out of the water.

Who it's for

Children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced swimmers: the academy says its swimming lessons suit all age groups, and many of its 2026 posts are about children's lessons. No age bands are published, so ask which ages are taught at the Al Quoz pool.

What to expect

Sessions work on technique, breath control, strength and stamina, with water safety and confidence built in, according to the academy's website. Beginners and stronger swimmers are both coached, and progress is marked with certificates as children move up a level. The website lists a swim coach certified by ASCA at Levels 1 and 2. A timetable, trial policy and kit list are not published online: message the academy on WhatsApp or call +971 50 445 3234 for the Al Quoz schedule, and ask what a first lesson involves and what to bring.
