Al Wasl Swimming Academy
About Al Wasl Swimming Academy
Al Wasl Swimming Academy is the swimming academy of Al Wasl Sports Club in Za'abeel, Dubai, and its pool sits in the club grounds next to Zabeel Stadium. The club says the academy welcomes swimmers of all ages and skill levels, from a beginner getting into the water for the first time to an experienced swimmer after advanced training, with instructors shaping lessons around each person. Al Wasl also races age-group swimmers: in December 2025 the club reported first places in the 15-16 years and juniors categories and second place in the under-14s at the UAE Open Water Swimming Championship. The academy is rated 4.5 on Google from 264 reviews, and its Google listing shows it open 8AM-10PM every day, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, car park, seating and toilet. Starting ages, class times and fees are not published, so call the club to ask which group suits your child.
The activity
Swimming, explained
Learn-to-swim classes take children through structured stages: water confidence and safety first, then floating and breathing, then the four main strokes, usually front crawl and backstroke before breaststroke and butterfly. Classes are typically kept small so an instructor can watch each child closely, and many academies use a badge or level system so kids see visible progress. Most programmes start from toddler age with a parent in the water and move to independent group lessons as children grow, building both water safety and a sport many keep for life.
Who it's for
The club says its swimming academy is for all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced swimmers. Its competitive swimmers race in age groups: in December 2025 the club reported results in the under-14, 15-16 years and juniors categories. The youngest starting age, and whether there are separate girls' and boys' groups, are not published, so ask the club.
What to expect
The club says its instructors tailor lessons to each swimmer, whether your child is a novice dipping their toes in for the first time or an experienced swimmer ready for advanced training. The Google listing shows the academy open 8AM-10PM every day, but these are opening hours, not class times, so ask for the timetable for your child's age and level. Kit lists, trial sessions, assessments and fees are not published either. A quick call or email to the club before the first visit will tell you what to bring and which group to join.
