The activity

Football, explained

Football coaching gives children a structured way to build ball control, passing, movement and teamwork while running around with friends. Sessions usually mix drills such as dribbling, first touch and shooting with small-sided games, so players learn technique without losing the fun of a match. Clubs tend to group players by age, starting with basic coordination and ball skills for the youngest and building towards positions, tactics and competitive fixtures for older players. It suits energetic kids who enjoy being part of a team, and the only kit most beginners need is boots, shin pads and a water bottle.

Who it's for

Players from 6 to 14 years old, according to the academy's Instagram bio. Ask which age group your child would join and whether beginners are welcome.

What to expect

The academy's Instagram shows what its football looks like: training sessions, players in green Strikers kit, game days and posts that single out a player's work rate or finishing. A photo on its Google listing shows a coach running a team talk with a tactics board on a grass pitch. Session length, group sizes, fees and what kit a new player needs are not published, so ask when you call. The academy's Instagram profile has a highlight titled Free Trials, so it is worth asking whether a first session can be booked as a trial before you sign up for a term.
