Spin Music is a DJ and music production school in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) that teaches children, teenagers and People of Determination. It was founded by Nadi Choueiri, a DJ with a degree in musicology and certificates from Dubspot in New York, who played in Beirut venues for over 15 years and taught at the Lebanese School for the Blind & Deaf and at Al Noor Training Center for People of Determination in Dubai. He has a visual impairment himself, and inclusion runs through the school: the studio is described as fully accessible, and there is a one-to-one course for People of Determination of all ages. Children join Spin Stars (ages 7-11) and teens join Spin Heroes (ages 12-17). Each runs in three levels of eight weekly one-hour sessions, and the older group's final level ends with a live showcase set. There is also a four-week Quick Spin taster on Fridays, private lessons for ages 7-17, one-time family sessions and birthday parties. Equipment is provided, so nobody needs their own decks to start.

DJ & Music Production, explained

DJing is the craft of choosing and blending recorded music so one track flows into the next. Children learn on a DJ controller linked to a laptop or tablet: they count beats and bars, match the tempo (BPM) of two songs, use EQ and volume faders, and add loops and effects. As they progress they plan short sets, learn to read the energy of a room and record their own mixes. Along the way it builds rhythm, careful listening, coordination and the confidence to perform in front of others. DJ courses for children in Dubai usually start from around age 7, once a child can follow a structured one-hour lesson.

Who it's for

Children aged 7-11 (Spin Stars) and teenagers aged 12-17 (Spin Heroes), from complete beginners upwards; no experience is needed for beginner courses. Private one-to-one lessons are for ages 7-17. People of Determination of all ages can join a one-to-one inclusive introduction to DJing, tailored to each student's pace and learning style.
