About Smart SwimCraft Sport Academy

Smart SwimCraft is a Dubai swim academy teaching everyone from 3-month-old babies to competitive squads. Its children's group programme, SwimCraft to Learn, is for ages 4-12 and runs in mini-groups at The Community (JVT) across four levels, from water introduction and basic skills (LTS-1) to advanced swimming and stamina (LTS-4). Stronger swimmers can train for competitions in SwimCraft Squads at Ambassador International Academy in Al Quoz. SwimCraft Babies (3 months to 3 years) and One-to-One classes are private, at The Community (JVT), Al Wasl Sports Club (Al Jadaf) or at your own place. The academy describes its coaching as science-based, with assessments before and during training. Head coach Dr Dmitrii Drozhetskii holds a Candidate of Science in Pedagogy (PhD equivalent) and 21 years' coaching experience; founder Ms Irina Zlobina is a World Cup medallist and former national team athlete. The group trial is free, a private trial is 150 AED, and family pricing applies for up to 3 swimmers from the same family.

The activity

Swimming, explained

Swimming lessons take children from water confidence and basic floating through to full strokes and, for those who want it, competitive training. Good programmes break the skill into levels - breathing, floating, kicking, then front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and turns - so a child only moves up once a skill is solid. Swimming builds cardiovascular fitness, coordination and water safety, which matters in a city with a pool or beach close to most homes. Group learn-to-swim classes often start around age four, while younger babies and toddlers usually begin with short private or parent-supported sessions focused on getting comfortable in the water.

Who it's for

Babies and toddlers from 3 months to 3 years (private SwimCraft Babies classes); children aged 4-12 learning to swim, from overcoming fear of the water to all four strokes (SwimCraft to Learn); children with a good swimming base or who want to compete (SwimCraft Squads). Private One-to-One classes are open to all ages and levels, and adults 18+ have general and ladies-only groups.

What to expect

The first session is a trial of about 30-40 minutes: an individual assessment of your child's swimming level and technique, an introduction to the academy's training method, personal feedback from the coach and a recommendation on the group or private programme that fits. The group trial is free; a private trial is 150 AED. Bring a swimsuit, swimming cap, goggles, towel and flip-flops (swim diapers and a hooded towel for babies). Learn-to-swim classes last 45 minutes at levels 1-2 and 60 minutes at levels 3-4. Packages are paid monthly and valid for 30 days; cancel at least 24 hours ahead or the class counts as attended.
